How to Use the Nioxin Scalp Recovery Kit

The Nioxin Scalp Recovery Kit has been a go-to product for us for years, and for good reason – it does exactly what it promises! Many people suffer from scalp problems, often more than you’d think, and it’s not something to overlook. After all, healthy hair starts with a healthy scalp.

How Do I Use It?

The kit comes with three steps, and we’ve found this method to maximise its results. Don't worry if you feel a slight tingling sensation – this is normal and means it’s working!

  1. Shampoo: Start by using the shampoo the way you would with any regular shampoo. Focus on your roots, lather up, and gently cleanse your scalp and hair. We recommend washing twice: the first wash gets rid of product buildup, and the second really cleanses your scalp and hair.

  2. Conditioner: This is where people often get confused. The Nioxin conditioner is meant for your scalp only – not your ends. It helps restore natural hydration and balance to your scalp. Leave it on for a couple of minutes, and while it's working, apply another conditioner to your mid-lengths and ends. If your hair is feeling dry, use a hydrating conditioner. For damaged hair, a repairing conditioner is a good choice. After a few minutes, rinse thoroughly.

We suggest using these steps every three washes or as needed, depending on how your scalp feels.

  1. Soothing Serum: Now, onto the Nioxin soothing serum. While it’s not necessarily something we use every time, it’s great for targeted relief. Nioxin recommends applying it to freshly washed hair, but we’ve found it can feel a little heavy on the roots. Instead, we prefer to use it as a leave-in treatment before our wash day. Either way, it does an excellent job of soothing dry or itchy scalps.

We absolutely love the Nioxin Scalp Recovery Kit and recommend it to all our clients with scalp concerns. We use it ourselves regularly, so we can confidently say it works!
